E Designs: Living Rooms

I've recently been playing with this new app called "Design Home" and I'm sharing some of the designs that I've created. It's actually pretty fun. The floors, walls and fixtures are already placed, but the furniture, rugs, accessories and art are all decided by you. Check out the designs below and let me know what you think!

Hope you enjoyed these designs!

Dining Room: Small Space...Big Style

Just because you have a small space to live in doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your style. In this project, I did my best to maximize the "petiteness" of this dining area (less than 100 sq. ft.) with the pieces that were placed in it. Let's start with the table!

Frontal view

Angular view. The piece on the wall is a Brittany E. Lyons art original.
This table was custom made by Judy Chance in Jackson, MS. It measures 42 in. wide and 60 in long. I had the measurements before the table was made, and she used those to make sure it would fit well within the space. It was stained in a dark walnut and sealed with Danish Oil. Absolutely beautiful.

The chairs are different, but complement each other so well I decided to keep them like this. I had originally intended to purchase some cream upholstered chairs for this project. The arm chairs were some old leather chairs, but upcylced with a few coats of Annie Sloan's Duck Egg Blue chalk paint. The wooden chairs were purchased online at Target.com. They look amazing, but it did take some time to assemble them.

Close up of the side chairs
The rug was also purchased online at rugsusa.com, and the cream color helps make the space look bigger than what it actually is. The pattern is also subtle and adds a little more charm. The tabletop is simply decorated with some chargers from Hobby Lobby, napkins and rings from HomeGoods and BedBath&Beyond. Since flowers brighten up any space, the big bold look of hydrangeas just brought the look together.

Another side view.

Legs of chairs and table.

Bottom view.
Once you have all of the right components, you can make any small space great! Feel free to comment or share this post. I'll be posting more projects soon...as always, thanks for stopping by!

BEL DIY (Do It Yourself) : Succulents

I have been trying to get my hands on some succulents, and I finally had the chance to get some this weekend! Succulents are easy to manage, and I purchased the smaller hens and chicks from Sutherland in Pearl. The larger ones came from Callaway's, a local garden center, in Ridgeland. They were super affordable!
I forgot to take a before picture, but the after just looks so good.

A quick trip to TJ Maxx to find some new pots was successful. I ended up choosing the grey pair!
I purchased some fast-draining cactus and citrus friendly soil to re-pot them in.
Miracle-Gro 8-Quart Cactus Soil

So the finished products are below!
The larger pot has three different succulents. The smaller pot just has one.

You can see the different species better from this angle.

Large hen and chick with another species of succulent potted with it.

This one is my favorite, I bought the pot from Marshall's.

This hen and chick was re-potted in an old candle jar that I washed and recycled for this purpose.

I also recycled an old candle jar for this one.
The great thing about these plants is that you don't have to have a green thumb to keep them alive. Water them every week or two, and they should be just fine! I'll give an update in a few months.

Brittany Lyons Art: The Gold Foil Collection

So one of my newest collections have been a collaborative creation with my fondness of gold and my love for simplicity. These pieces are hand painted in gold acrylic paint, and carefully and strategically covered in gold foil with a white acrylic background on 8x10 or 9x12 inch canvases. Each piece has a different amount of gold flakes randomly scattered that creates a uniqueness. They are covered in a layer of Art Resin brand epoxy resin for a glass like look. They are simply stunning! Take a look....

Continent of Africa in gold acrylic and gold foil.

"Dawg" "Rebel" and "Eagle" in gold acrylic and gold foil. Mississippi University mascots.

State of Louisiana  in gold acrylic and gold foil.

State of Mississippi in gold acrylic and gold foil.

State of Texas in gold acrylic and gold foil.

Faith Hope and Love in gold acrylic and gold foil.

BEL Decor has recently completed decorating a living room space. Check out our work below and let me know what you think!

Living Room
We used a neutral gray palette, and added pops of color with accessories.

The end tables were up-cycled from the previous home and painted with a fresh coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in a custom mix color. They bring symmetry to the room.

BEL Decor and Interiors, LLC : Private Residence - Kids Bedroom

Our latest project has been a local bedroom redesign for a kids room. The first two pictures are "before" pics just to kind of give you an idea of what the room looked like before. Turquoise and pink with cheetah print is what the family wanted. So here is what we did......
Where bed was before
Before of nook area

Bedroom Nook (painted nook in Sherwin Williams - Tame Teal)
We moved the bed to the empty nook area and painted the walls in Sherwin Williams - Tame Teal. Since the family wanted cheetah print, we added the print with pillow accessories and a plush throw that now lays over the bed.
After close up
The night stand was one she already had, but it was painted to match the new color scheme.

We used sheer gold lined linen curtains for this window. They match the curtains in the bedroom nook.

In the main area of the bedroom, we accented the nook's new color with a light neutral color, Sherwin Williams - Accessible Beige, this brings a bright and airy cohesiveness to the room.
A dainty study area has been made of the space where the bed used to sit. (painted bedroom area in Sherwin Williams - Accessible Beige)
With the new wall color, we had to add some beautiful and inspirational art.

BEL Decor and Interiors, LLC : Private Residence : Master Bedroom and Bathroom

Purple was our client's choice for this room. We brought in gold accents with the pillows and furniture trim to give it a regal feel.
This master bedroom was one of our biggest furniture projects to date. The couple had this set, but wanted it painted. It was a cherry color before. We used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (ASCP) - Coco for the main color and trimmed in ASCP - Old White. It turned out beautiful!
Pillows make a cozy statement when added in different sizes and patterns.

This dresser was painted in ASCP - Old White to accent the other furniture being painted in Coco.
This ottoman was reupholstered in a white faux leather and spray painted with Rustoleum gold.

The master bathroom was already gorgeous. We brought in simple accessories to compliment the space since the floors and counter tops were already the main attraction.

Simple bathroom accessories for this already bright space.

Floral arrangements can be simple, yet elegant, even in a bathroom.
